Welcome to Spring Grove School
Open Morning, 6 March 2021
Thank you for registering for our March Open Morning. We would normally be welcoming you into our school to show you round, and for you to meet our wonderful staff and pupils. Sadly we can't invite you in currently, but we can present a virtual event which takes you into our classrooms, introduces you to some of our pupils, and allows you to watch some of our weekly live-streamed Assemblies (normally available to current parents only). You are also invited to attend a presentation and Q&A given by our Senior Leadership Team at 10am, when you will be able to ask questions in real time.
There is a lot more detailed information about our Nursery, KS1 and KS2, as well as Forest School, creative arts at SG and many other aspects of school life on our school Virtual Tour website - click here to access these pages.
Please see below for more details of our March Open Morning.
What's on the menu?
Live presentation and Q&A session - 10am
This is your chance to ask any questions you may have about life at Spring Grove. Mrs Jaggard, Head of Spring Grove School, Mr Reed, Deputy Head Academic, Mrs Saxby Deputy Head Pastoral and Mrs Clarke our Head of Early Years will give an informal presentation about all aspects of Spring Grove - you are invited to watch the presentation via this link. The recording of this presentation will continue to be available after Saturday 6 March, but please note that the question link will no longer be live. If you have any questions please email them to: email@example.com
Spring Grove School - 'A Great Place to Grow'
This video gives you an opportunity to meet some of our pupils and hear what they think of Spring Grove.
The Learning Walk video features Mr Reed, our Deputy Head Academic, and Mrs Clarke our Head of Early Years. They take you on an informal walk around the Nursery and School to see inside the classrooms, talk to the children, and to give a flavour for the kind of work our pupils are doing.
FRIDAY 'FAMILY' ASSEMBLIES
Every Friday we have a Family Assembly when in normal times all of our parents are invited to join us in school for coffee, to meet and socialise, and to attend our whole-school Assembly. Since lockdown, these Assemblies have moved online and are now live-streamed out to the Spring Grove community - children and parents - with themed videos created by the children and staff. Each week we celebrate the children's work, and any other notable events (such as snow!). We are delighted to be able to share excerpts from our Assemblies with you to give you a taste of life at Spring Grove.
Please note: these videos are available only to people who have the link and are not in the public domain. We would politely request that the links, and any part of the videos themselves, are not shared on social media in any form. Thank you.
Jelly the Giraffe
This short clip introduces you to our school mascot, Jelly the Giraffe. Each week the children collect stars for their school Houses, and the House with the most stars is awarded Jelly the Giraffe during Assembly on Friday. Virtual assemblies can't quite match the excitement of a packed school hall, but our Key Worker children from Year 2 do a great job in this clip... Jelly also provides the intro and outro for all of our Assemblies.
Lockdown, Don't Frown
Each week a different class from Reception to Prep 6 takes turn to present to the rest of the school on a particular theme. In normal times these presentations would be on the stage in our School hall. But our creative children and staff have done a fabulous job of putting together lockdown videos - as you will see in this presentation from Prep 4.
Home Learning - Spelling Week
During lockdown, we have encouraged everyone to send in pictures from their SG Home Learning. This week in January the Home Learning compilation featured innovative ways to learn spellings, Forest School bird feeder projects and some fantastic art.
Spring Grove Snow Fun
The week of snow in February produced a lot of snow people... This video was a bit of fun to celebrate!
Scholarships and Admissions
We are offering scholarships for entry in Years 3, 4 and 5 in September 2021. The deadline for scholarship application is Wednesday 10 March 2021. More information and the link to an application form may be found on the school website.
